A classic chopped cheese sandwich, inspired by Queens. Features seared ground beef with peppers and onions, melted American cheese, and fresh toppings on a toasted roll.
1. Begin by adding EVOO and salt to your whole peppers, then roast/broil them until charred.
2. Let the roasted peppers rest for a few minutes. Meanwhile, chop your topping ingredients including lettuce, tomato, jalapeño, and onion.
3. Chop the rested peppers, then get a pan super hot with EVOO.
4. Sear your ground beef, chopping it up loosely as it cooks. Then, add the chopped onion and jalapeño and cook for 3 minutes.
5. Top the beef mixture with American cheese, add an ice cube, and cover the pan to let it steam and melt the cheese.
6. Toast your bread (roll or baguette) in butter, and then assemble your chopped cheese sandwich with the beef mixture and fresh toppings.
