Aaliyah Burger with Homemade Salsa Roja
25 mins prepServes 1
A flavorful burger featuring two beef patties, homemade salsa roja, crispy bacon, sautéed peppers and onions, queso fresco, and avocado, all served on a toasted brioche bun.
1. Chop and roast your Roma tomatoes, along with the whole jalapeño, chili de árbol, garlic, and 1/2 yellow onion. Season with salt, pepper, and olive oil. Roast in a 400F oven for 10-12 minutes.
2. Remove the roasted vegetables from the oven, discard any skins (if desired), and add everything into a food processor. Pulse until chunky. Add fresh cilantro and lime juice, then pulse again. Season the salsa to taste.
3. Chop the sweet peppers and the remaining onion, then sauté them in a pan until wilted.
4. Portion out two 2 oz beef patties. Season them with salt and pepper.
5. Sear the patties on high heat, smashing the corners down with a flat tool for a good crust.
6. Immediately after searing, add queso fresco to the patties. Start building your burger on a butter-toasted brioche bun. Add kewpie mayo (or regular mayo), Romaine, the homemade salsa roja, crispy applewood bacon, sautéed peppers and onions, and sliced avocado.
